Mother In Law Moves In

Having worked with hundreds of families and counseling them on how to manage their elderly parents, I am now faced with my husband's mother moving in with us.

She has no dementia, but needs much attention. It's easy to say "she's only my mother in law" and let my husband deal with her. Having 16 year old twins in the mix makes things even more stressful. I would like to say I am taking it in stride, but it takes a toll.

So for all you caregivers of family members, be easy on yourself when you get angry, stressed and overwhelmed. It's OK to feel all these emotions. At the end of the day, we are all doing the right thing for our elders.
